Legendary guitarist and Grammy Award nominee Duke Robillard, whose work with his own band and those of Bob Dylan, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Robert Gordon, Tom Waits and other top artists has earned him countless awards, will appear with his band at Next Stage on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at 7:30pm.
Tickets are $22 in advance, $25 at the door, available online, at Turn It Up in Brattleboro, and the Putney Coop. Next Stage is located at 15 Kimball Hill, Putney, Vermont.
Duke Robillard is a bandleader, songwriter, singer, producer, and session musician. He has been a one-man cheering section for the blues, in all of its forms and permutations, since 1967 when he formed the band Roomful of Blues. He has subsequently recorded or toured with Bob Dylan, Tom Waits, Jay McShann, Robert Gordon, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, John Hammond, the late Jimmy Witherspoon, Dr. John, Maria Muldaur, and the Canadian band The Rockin’ Highliners, among others.
The Blues Music Awards named Duke Robillard “Best Blues Guitarist” four years out of five, making him the second most honored guitarist for that award, and he was also nominated in that category three times. Among his other extensive awards, Duke received a Grammy nomination in 2007 for his “Guitar Groove-a-rama” CD.
BB King himself called Duke “One of the great players,” The Houston Post called him “one of God’s guitarists”. And the New York Times says “Robillard is a soloist of stunning force and originality”.
There will be a beer/wine cash bar.
