Eliza Gilkyson has been a star in Austin and beyond, for over 35 years. She became a member of the Austin Music Hall of Fame in 2003, and has won the Folk Alliance awards for Best Solo Artist, Best Contemporary Artist, Song of the Year and Album of the Year. A well-known recording artist with 20 albums, Eliza is also is a leading voice in the political evolution of the Americana genre.
The music of Texas is distinct from Country music, and so is Gretchen Peters – but she was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2014 by Rodney Crowell. You won’t hear any Country music from her. However, Gretchen has produced many hits in Music City, has released 7 masterful albums with various kinds of
instrumentation, and has a new, double retrospective album. Eliza praises “her sublime voice and concern for humanity.”
We think you will agree that both of these women are deeply caring humanists, answering our call for heroic voices, and bringing music to us that continues to set a standard of excellence, according to their peers.
