What a surprise it was last summer to come upon a great Jamaican reggae singer performing in the alley next to the Hooker Dunham Theater in Brattleboro. Backed by a band of local musicians that included father and son Peter and Joel Eisenkramer, who had discovered Dennis in Jamaica, NL played razor sharp reggae guitar and sang with a soaring voice that could hold its own with the likes of Toots And The Maytals. What I learned later was that Dennis had recorded with Toots And The Maytals, and that during the recording Bob Marley had stopped by to praise him. Dennis is back in Brattleboro this summer and he and his band The Thunderballs will be hosting an authentic reggae dance party at the NextStage Theater on July 16 at 7:30 PM. To celebrate the show, Katy’s in Putney will be serving Jamaican food all evening. Get your tickets early!
