A short course on cinematic storytelling, ON SCREEN provides our community with a casual place to view films in a variety of categories, while exploring questions, techniques and ideas about filmmaking.
The first segment explores the Neo-Noir genre, and the next film in the lineup on Thursday 1/28/16 is CHINATOWN starring Jack Nicholson and Faye Dunaway. Start time is 7PM, with discussion / Q&A to follow the film.
This event is also part of our Dinner & A Movie collaboration with The Gleanery restaurant in downtown Putney. $23 for dinner also includes a $5 donation to help cover the cost of the film. Call The Gleanery at 802 387 3052 for reservations and tell them you are going to see the film. Dinner will be served at 5:30PM, and you can walk up the street to ON SCREEN immediately following.
All ON SCREEN events are open to the public by donation, and are curated and led by filmmaker Vanessa Vadim and writer/producer Paul van Winkle. Filmmakers and members of the film community will join us periodically to share their experience and expertise. Come for a single film, or follow the entire course!
Materials are provided, and discussions led with the basics of cinematic storytelling as the focus: story/idea, editing, sound, script, and cinematography. Weekly screenings are followed by conversation about the role of film in culture, art, and politics, as well as the art and techniques of filmmaking.
